The CW’s upcoming pilot for Batwoman has found its villain in Reign favorite Rachel Skarsten. Skarsten will serve as Alice, the main antagonist to titular star Ruby Rose. In the vein of Batman’s Joker, Alice is a maniacal baddie whose personality can switch on a dime. She also leads the Lewis Carroll–inspired Wonderland Gang as they terrorize the streets of Gotham and wreak havoc for its heroine.

This is the latest DC role for Skarsten, who previously portrayed Dinah Lance on the 2002 series Birds of Prey. She also starred as Queen Elizabeth on Reign and had recurring roles on Bravo’s Imposters and Syfy’s Lost Girl.

“Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope,” reads the official synopsis for Batwoman.

Written by Caroline Dries and developed by Bertlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, Batwoman stars Rose, Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, and Nicole Kang. Currently no release date has been set for the Batwoman pilot.
