The Walt Disney Company and 21st Century Fox have both issued press releases confirming that Disney’s acquisition of Fox has been finalized, and is effective at 12:02 AM ET on March 20, 2019.

The companies have announced that Fox will be distributing all issued and outstanding shares of common stock to stockholders, according to the merger plan. This will complete the acquisition of 21st Century Fox properties by Disney.

This deal comes nearly two years after the initial announcement by Disney regarding their multi-billion dollar deal to acquire Fox assets. The final acquisition deal was completed at $71.3 billion.

This merger has received significant attention due to how it will incorporate Fox-owned Marvel licenses for properties including the X-Men and Fantastic Four, now making them available as characters to be merged into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is also worth noting that this acquisition by Disney does not include other Fox-branded outlets (such as Fox News).

The official press releases can be found at the 21st Century Fox and Walt Disney Company websites.
