The first trailer for the animated The Addams Family movie introduces them as a “different” type of average American family. They love each other, they take pride in their home, they occasionally have bugs coming out of their clothing…

The animation style harkens back to Charles Addams’ original art, which was featured in The New Yorker for 50 years. In the trailer, Morticia and Gomez find a “hideous” and “horrible” new home that they love. Plenty of gags fill the trailer, such as Wednesday finding a red balloon that reminds her mother of a certain scary clown and Pugsley blows up a piece of the house.

The movie opens in time for Halloween, on October 11, 2019. An impressive voice cast brings the family to life, including Charlize Theron, Oscar Isaac, Chloë Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Bette Midler, and Nick Kroll. It’s directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, with additional voice cast members like Alison Janney, Elsie Fisher, and Aimee Garcia.
