The most in-depth look yet at the upcoming film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been provided thanks to an exclusive feature at Vanity Fair. The magazine sports two covers with the current trilogy’s biggest characters – Kylo Ren and Rey – each gracing one, and the feature itself delves into new characters not yet seen before.
Vanity Fair’s feature also discusses, at length, with those both in front of and behind the camera the kind of challenges that Star Wars presents. Particularly so when taking into account that The Rise of Skywalker is meant to cap off the entire main franchise.
“That’s the challenge of this movie,” Director J.J. Abrams said. “It wasn’t just to make one film that as a standalone experience would be thrilling, and scary, and emotional, and funny, but one that if you were to watch all nine of the films, you’d feel like, Well, of course – that!”
The entire feature as well as new photos from The Rise of Skywalker can be found on the Vanity Fair website.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will arrive in theaters on December 20, 2019.
