Square Enix showed off the first trailer for their upcoming action-adventure title, Marvel’s Avengers, during their E3 press conference this year. The three-minute trailer introduced the events of “A-Day,” in which Taskmaster and his forces cause incredible damage to San Francisco using stolen Stark technology.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a high tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco – including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all superheroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes,” the official trailer description reads.

Confirmed playable heroes so far include Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor, respectively voiced by Jeff Schine, Nolan North, Troy Baker, Laura Bailey, and Travis Willingham. Hank Pym will also play a role in the game, and other villains have included the likes of the Abomination.

The game is being developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, and is set to be released for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia on May 15, 2020.
