Garden State Comic Con returns to the Mennen Arena in Morristown, New Jersey on June 29-30, 2019. Among the special guests of the two-day pop culture show is fantasy, pin-up, and comic artist Joe Jusko.
Since graduating from NYC’s High School of Art & Design, Jusko has enjoyed a decades-long career working for nearly every major comic book publisher. He sold his first cover for Heavy Metal Magazine in 1977 at the age of 17 and has since produced hundreds of images for both covers and interiors. Perhaps his most notable work was the multi-award winning 1992 Marvel Masterpieces trading cards. He went on to produce 125 paintings for the Edgar Rice Burroughs trading cards, making him one of the most prolific Burroughs artists of all time.
Across his 30-year career, his work has graced paperback book covers, calendars, posters, t-shirts, toy packaging, and even a limited edition cover of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #48. He has also produced storyboards for ad agencies and advertising campaigns, including designing art for WWE’s Royal Rumbles and Wrestlemania VII. Jusko holds two “Favorite Painter” Wizard Fan Awards, multiple trading card awards, a Golden Lion Award from the Burroughs Bibliophiles) and a Chesley Award nomination for best cover.
