Disney has dropped the first teaser trailer for their live-action version of Mulan. Joining a slate of other live-action remakes, Mulan will tell the story of the young Chinese girl who disguises herself as a male warrior to save her father.

The trailer opens with a clearly disappointed Mulan learning that her parents have set up an arranged marriage. This is followed by Mulan learning the values of being a good wife, mixed with shots of soldiers training for battle. It sets up some of the story’s tension while also giving a glimpse at the beautiful setting and production value of the upcoming film.

Disney’s live-action Mulan will premiere next spring on March 27, 2020. Niki Caro (North Country) is directing the film, Yifei Liu (The Third Way of Love) will portray Mulan, and she is joined by Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, Jet Li as the Emperor, Jason Scott Lee as Bori Khan, and Li Gong as Xian Lang.
