The Hero Initiative, the charity dedicated to helping comic book creators in medical or financial need, is travelling into Comic-Con International in San Diego on July 17-21, 2019.

Things kick off Wednesday, July 17, with Gabe Eltaeb’s Comic Kickoff Fundraiser and Party at Basic Bar and Pizza at 410 10th Avenue in San Diego from 9 PM to 1 AM. Attendees can win raffle prizes, meet artists and have a couple drinks all to support Hero initiative. Artists in attendance include Norm Rapmund, Todd Nauck, Jim Calafiore, and more.

The parties continue July 18 with Stone Brewing’s annual Hop-Con. Stone’s famous w00tstout beer will flow at Stone’s World Bistro, and artist Alan Davis has the honor to create this year’s label and print. Prints will be available for sale at the venue and at Hero’s booth at the convention. Proceeds benefit Hero, and tickets are available now.

Alan Davis will anchor the Hero booth 5003, all weekend, and will be joined by guest creators Danny Miki, Louise Simonson, Walter Simonson, and Aaron Sowd.

Davis pulls double duty again, as he’s the cover artist on Hero’s yearly limited edition of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #49. This catch-all of crucial comics info is limited to 500 copies in hardcover only at $35, so be sure to grab one at the Hero booth and have Davis sign it as well.

Hero is also the exclusive go-to for CGC Signature Series signings for top creators Kurt Busiek, Alan Davis, Amanda Conner, Gene Ha, Jonathan Hickman, Dan Jurgens, Danny Miki, Bill Morrison, Jimmy Palmiotti, Nicola Scott, Louise Simonson, Walter Simonson, Mark Waid, and Jim Zub. Drop your books off at CGC booth 901 no later than Friday July 19 by 5 PM, and get your Signatures Series without the hassle of lines.

On Wednesday, July 17, Davis will sign from 6:30 PM to 8 PM.

On Thursday, July 18, Davis will signe from 10 AM to 12 PM and 1:30 PM to 3 PM, then Aaron Sowd signs from 3 PM to 4 PM.
Friday, July 19 signings are Louise and Walter Simonson from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, Danny Miki from 11 AM to 12 PM, and Davis at 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

Saturday, July 20 signings are Davis at 10 AM to 12 PM and 2 PM to 3 PM.

The Sunday, July 21 signing is Davis from 11 AM to 1 PM.

The Hero Initiative is the first-ever federally chartered not for profit corporation dedicated strictly to helping comic book creators in need. Hero Initiative creates a financial safety net for yesterday’s creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. It’s a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment.

Since its inception, The Hero Initiative has had the good fortune to grant over $1 million to the comics’ veterans who have paved the way for those in the industry today. For more information, visit www.heroinitiative.org or call (626) 676-6354.
