After over 20 years, cartoonist Gary Larson’s iconic strip may be making a return! The website for Larson’s The Far Side, run by Andrew McMeel Universal, has been updated and features a new cartoon and message: “Uncommon, unreal, and (soon-to-be) unfrozen. A new online era of The Far Side is coming!”

The single-panel comic strip originally ran in newspapers from January 1, 1980 to January 1, 1995. The Far Side quickly became a cultural phenomenon with best selling compilations and strips featured on everything from greeting cards to t-shirts. Since Larson’s retirement, his work has been published intermittently including a cover for The New Yorker.

So far, no additional information on when or how Larson’s comic will return has been provided.
