On September 13-15, 2019, the Imperial Commissary Collectors Convention (ICCC) was held in Franklin, Tennessee. The Star Wars-centric event brought together vendors, guests, and attendees for a weekend celebrating George Lucas’ indomitable creation.

Hake’s Auctions was there, displaying some of the most significant Star Wars toy treasures that’ll be featured in their November premier auction.

“Everyone was enthusiastic to see our upcoming items and see their friends within the Star Wars collecting community. This went beyond the showroom floor and continued on into the night with hotel room sales and gatherings,” Hake’s Consignment Manager Kelly McClain said while describing the show.

The pinnacle of the pieces that they displayed at ICCC was the rocket-firing Boba Fett prototype (J-slot) that’ll be offered in the November auction. As attendees visited their table the oft spoken refrain was, “I can’t believe I am seeing this in person!”

But Boba Fett wasn’t the only one receiving attention. “We debuted items from a recent find of rare early production Star Wars 12-back figures. On display from this collection were white footer double-telescoping Darth Vader and Ben Kenobi, white footer Han Solo, and three never punched figures: vinyl cape Jawa, Death Squad Commander, and Sand People,” McClain said. “These three no punch varieties are the earliest carded examples of these figures and the first to come to the collecting community.”

“The response was overwhelming from everyone. This was our most elaborate display so far,” Hake’s Production Manager Todd Sheffer said. “Collector’s with comprehensive collections were thrilled to see the one of a kind pieces that had just surfaced. Again and again, people asked to take pictures and videos.”

A double-telescoping Darth Vader AFA 75+, Bib Fortuna in white cape on Walrus Man card AFA 80, and vinyl cape Jawa AFA 85+ were also on display. “Having these key pieces on display made this our most responsive convention to date,” McClain said.

While there, Hake’s acquired some fresh consignments that Star Wars collectors can vie for in upcoming auctions. They included Cantina first shots, scarce carded action figures, and AFA 90 loose scarce action figures.

“We filled several bins of new consignments that were brought in for us, both solicited and not. People know where to send their vintage Star Wars for the best results. Some items will be in our November auction and a few others in upcoming auctions,” Sheffer said.

“The Star Wars collecting market is stronger than ever with more collectors joining daily,” McClain added. “Our November auction is loaded with over 300 Star Wars items for all types of collectors and there will be more to come.”
