Zoë Kravitz has scored the role of Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the upcoming film The Batman. She was the first character Warner Bros. has confirmed is in the film with Batman. A few days later, it was announced that Paul Dano joined the project as the Riddler.
Kravitz currently stars in the HBO series Big Little Lies. No stranger to comic book movies, she was in X-Men: First Class, voiced Mary Jane in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and voiced Catwoman in 2017’s The Lego Batman Movie.
To his credit, Dano was recently nominated for an Emmy for Escape at Dannemora. He directed, co-wrote, and produced the film Wildlife, and starred in dramas such as Little Miss Sunshine, There Will Be Blood, and 12 Years a Slave.
They’ll star opposite Robert Pattinson as Batman during the earlier days of his career, set before Ben Affleck’s interpretation in other DCEU movies. The movie will be directed by Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin. Reeves has said that he plans to include more villains from Batman’s rogues gallery, which could include Penguin. The Batman will begin shooting in January and is set for theatrical release on June 25, 2021.
