In its two-hour special, 50 Greatest TV Animals, Animal Planet
profiled a plethora of pets and animal icons that have appeared in commercials,
television and film in recent history. The show was sponsored in part by
Universal Studios, which may explain the Universal slant on Animal Planet's
selections. Choices were made based on popularity of the animal character,
running time of the show and/or commercial and the opinions of the show's
producers.
