Artist Mike Grell of Green Arrow, Green Lantern, X-Men, and Warlord fame has been named the fourth honoree in the Wizard World Hall of Legends. This new initiative is dedicated to celebrating the artists, writers, and insiders who have helped shape the industry, and those who continue the tradition. Grell will receive the award during a ceremony at Wizard World Comic Con Chicago on August 24, 2017 at 7 PM.

Since his comic debut in 1973, Grell has brought his many creations and their worlds to life through an impressive style of visual storytelling. Along with those previously mentioned, some of his more famed work includes Starslayer, Jon Sable, Freelance, Shaman’s Tears, Bar Sinister, Maggie the Cat, Batman, Iron Man, and James Bond: Permission to Die. These, along with successful runs on the Tarzan Sunday strip and the internationally acclaimed Longbow Hunters, have won him the coveted Inkpot Award for Outstanding Achievement in Comic Art. Shaman’s Tears, which celebrates Indian traditions and lore, has amassed widespread acclaim in the Native American community. Grell also published his first novel, Sable, back in 1999. More recently, Grell announced his return to Green Arrow, where he will be drawing a dozen variant covers for the bi-weekly series. This announcement arrives just in time to also celebrate the 30th anniversary of his series, The Longbow Hunters.

“It’s an honor to be inducted into the Wizard World Hall of Legends. My 44 years in the comic industry has allowed me to tell stories and create characters and worlds from pure imagination ‒ I feel as if I've hardly worked a day of it,” shared Grell.

“Mike Grell is a true ‘legend’ of the comics world, and as a longtime frequent guest at our shows, is an extremely worthy honoree in our Wizard World Hall of Legends. He remains a significant, vibrant figure in the industry after having thrilled millions with his work over more than four decades,” added John D. Maatta, Wizard World President and CEO.

Grell joins previous Wizard World Hall of Legends honorees: Rob Liefeld, creator of the popular Cable, Deadpool, X-Force, and Youngblood franchises; Trina Robbins, the first woman to draw Wonder Woman; and Jeff Smith, creator of the famed comic book series Bone.

Wizard World Chicago is taking place on August 24-26 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center on 5555 North River Road in Rosemont, Illinois. For more information on the upcoming convention, visit http://wizd.me/ChicagoPR.
