Electronic Arts was the first publisher to take the stage at E3 2018, where they provided an in-depth look at previously-announced properties as well as unveiled a handful of new games.

EA followed up on their promise to look more at Battlefield V, which was announced a couple weeks ago. The new entry in the popular first-person shooter franchise will focus on WWII, and will feature fully destructible environments. The presenters also made sure to highlight that there will be “No loot boxes, no premium pass” – addressing the elephant in the room after EA was hugely criticized for their mishandling of such things recently. Battlefield V will also include a battle royale-style online gameplay mode, capitalizing on the current trend.

A new Star Wars game is currently in development by Respawn for EA, and is called Jedi: Fallen Order. In the game, players will be taking control of “a surviving Padawan, set shortly after the events of Star Wars: Episode III.” The game takes place during the time between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, where the Jedi are being hunted. It’s set for a “holiday 2019” release.

Speaking of Star Wars, EA discussed new content for Battlefront II – the game will be getting a new squad system, a new command-post capture mode, new heroes, new maps, and more, all from the Clone Wars era of the storyline. New playable characters from this era will include General Grievous, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker.

The cute indie game Unravel is getting a sequel, Unravel Two, and it’s available right now. The game has a cooperative focus in which both players can use their yarn-based abilities to traverse the terrain and avoid various dangers. Another indie announced was Sea of Solitude, which looks to be an interesting survival story with elements of psychological horror. It’s in development by German studio Jo-Mei Games, and will arrive in 2019.

The big focus of EA’s presser was on Bioware’s Anthem, which is due out in February 2019. This much-hyped shooter/action/RPG-hybrid has a big focus on the story, and the game will be supported with new content “for years to come,” according to the presenters. The science fiction game revolves around the “Javelin” suits that characters wear, which can be customized to fit player needs. The game is due out February 22, 2019.

Besides that, there was a focus on FIFA 19, which arrives on September 28, as well as on Madden Overdrive. Madden is also coming to PC, which is new, anda EA is also working on an “Origin Access Premiere” service which will give PC players full access to EA’s big games.
