On December 7-8, 2018, comic writer and editor Denny O’Neil was a guest at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library in Atlanta. O’Neil was recognized for his lifetime achievements in comics, specifically his work on stories that promote peace and justice.

O’Neil was the central figure in the Library’s “Comic Books and Social Justice” weekend. He participated in several events throughout the weekend, including discussions on inspiring change through comics, comics and the marketplace, and a focused talk on his work in Batman and beyond.

During the weekend’s events, President Carter sent O’Neil a letter to thank him for his work in comics and his efforts to tell stories about social issues as a means for inspiring others. The Hero Initiative shared a copy of the letter with Scoop, presented here for our readers.
