Quantcast

Fantasy and science fiction fans will have a rare chance to purchase sought after memorabilia during Heritage Auctions’ Edgar Rice Burroughs Collection of Roy and Dela White. The sale will be held on October 27, 2016.

Burroughs was a pioneer of the sci-fi and fantasy genre, having created Tarzan and Mars explorer John Carter.

Heritage’s 505-lot auction represents Tarzan’s appearances in books, film, comic books, and art. The diverse sale includes 100 first edition books, including the character’s debut in 1914’s Tarzan of the Apes. Art includes Boris Vallejo’s original cover art for Tarzan’s Quest, an oil on illustration board composition that is signed and inscribed by the artist. The auction includes advertisements and promotional materials, such as a 91-year old cardboard counter display for Tarzan and the Ant Men.

The auction also features some of Burroughs’ own items, such as his personal desk ashtray.
