Bidding is currently open for Hake’s Americana & Collectibles Auction #219. Among the thousands of collectibles in the auction are hundreds of comic books. From all ages to mature titles, first appearances and key issues to very affordable books, they have something for everyone.

Halloween may be over, but for fans of scary titles, Hake’s is selling plenty of EC comics. In lot 1325 they have Shock SuspenStories #6 CGC 9.6 Gaines File copy. The 1953 comic features stories by Al Feldstein and Bill Gaines with cover and art by Wally Wood, plus additional art by Jack Kamen, Joe Orlando, and Graham Ingels. It comes with a COA signed by William M. Gaines, Bob Overstreet, and Russ Cochran.

Weird Science #13 CGC 9.6 Gaines File copy is in lot 1329. Al Feldstein and Bill Gaines stories are in this issue with art and cover by Wally Wood, plus art by Feldstein, Joe Orlando, and Jack Kamen. It has a COA signed by William M. Gaines, Bob Overstreet, and Russ Cochran.

Lot 1333 has the E.C. Fan-Addict Club complete 1953 kit and letters. It comes with the mailing envelope with the EC logo and “Go MAD! Join the EC Fan-Addict Club” stamp; newsletters #3 (June 1954) and #4 (September 1954); membership certificate featuring the EC logo, the Crypt-Keeper, the Vault-Keeper, and the Old Witch; and membership card.

One lot among the EC listings connected to the company, though not in a positive way, is Seduction of the Innocent anti-comic book first edition hardcover. Housed in lot 1332, the book was written by Fredric Wertham and published by Rinehart & Company, Inc. in 1954. This copy includes the “Bibliographical Note” page which is missing from most copies after comic publishers demanded its removal. It is arguably the most infamous book about comics.

The EC listings are found in lots 1319-1335. Other highlights are Crime SuspenStories #17 CGC 8.0, Crypt of Terror #17 CGC 4.5, Weird Fantasy #13 CGC 7.0, Shock Illustrated #1 CGC 8.0, and E.C. Fan-Addict Club complete 1971 kit and letters.

Hake’s Auction #219 closes on November 15-17. Get your bids in soon at hakes.com.
