Wrapping up their record-setting Event Auction XXXIV, ComicConnect gave Scoop a preview of their next major consignment. “This one is going to be massive,” Vincent Zurzolo, ComicConnect COO, said. “Our next event consists of an exclusive, single-owner auction that reads like a love letter to some of the best comics our hobby has to offer. And one of our most beloved, an Action Comics #1 CGC 8.5, is the big story of the Second City Collection.”

This same Action Comics #1 CGC 8.5 held the world record for most valuable comic ever sold for nearly two years until it was eclipsed by ComicConnect’s record $2.16 million auction of actor Nicolas Cage’s CGC 9.0 copy. In addition to the Action Comics #1, the “Second City Collection is comprised of some of the most carefully and meticulously curated comics we’ve had the pleasure to work with,” Zurzolo continued.

Collectors will be fighting over copies of Detective Comics #27 CGC 8.5 R and #33 CGC 9.2, Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 7.5, Avengers #1 CGC 9.6, #2 CGC 9.8, and #4 CGC 9.6 (from a near complete Avengers run), Captain America Comics #1 CGC 7.5, and a costume worn by Chris Evans in Captain America: The First Avenger. “Exciting stuff,” Zurzolo said.

This past week, ComicConnect set a record for the condition with their auction of an Action Comics #1 CGC 5.0 for $815,000 and is looking to set more world records with their upcoming auction of the Second City Collection.

“Right now, we’re getting in consignments for our next Super Monthly Auction,” Zurzolo said. “Call or email me today to monetize your collection.” Director of Consignments Rob Reynolds can be reached by emailing robr@comicconnect.com or by calling toll free (888) 779-7377.
