Pedigree Comics, known throughout our hobby for selling and auctioning high end certified CBCS and CGC comics, has announced that their first ever art auction is now underway. The auction began on the night of Monday, October 10 and ends on the night of Thursday, October 20, 2016, beginning at 9:24 PM ET and ending at 11:59 PM ET. There are over 300 lots to choose from in the sale.

The auction features original art for every type of collector from Golden Age to Modern, with prices starting as low as $100 and up with absolutely no buyer's premium. The seller's fee is as low as 7% and no higher than 10% per consignment.

“We have been working around the clock, researching, meeting art collectors and sellers, taking in consignments, and working on the IT end of our site for a year just to get this right,” Randy Lawrence, Pedigree's Original Art Consignment Director said. “When we first started talking about doing an art auction, we decided it needed to be a great experience for both the sellers and the collectors, and that is just what we believe we have accomplished. I think that everyone will be shocked on how well they did doing buying and selling in the auction!”

Some highlights from this auction include C.C. Beck and Pete Costanza 2/3 splash Captain Marvel Adventures #6 page 1 (1942); Carlo Barberi Thunderbolts Annual #1 cover of Dr. Strange battling Elektra, Punisher, Deadpool, and more (2014); Jim Lee Wizard #168 cover of Batman and Robin Carmine Infantino tribute (2005); Bruce Timm Emma Frost White Queen commission (undated); Stephen Bissette Swamp Thing #62 cover from the Alan Moore run (1987); Joe Shuster Superman Expo color commission from the Gary Coddington collection (1988); and Budd Root Medusa color commission, 17” x 14” (2010).

Mike Mignola Wolverine Annual #1 page 32 Walt Simonson story with panels featuring Wolverine and Apocalypse (1990); Dick Sprang Superman commission looks just like a vintage cover, 15” x 20” (1998); Mike Deodato Glory #4 splash page 10 (1995); J.G. You can now begin to consign your original art for Pedigree’s upcoming January 2017 Grand Auction by reaching out to Randy Lawrence at (561) 886-8777 or RandyLawrence@pedigreecomics.com. Lawrence is available during the day and evenings, so Pedigree encourages potential consigners to reach out to him when it’s most convenient for them. Remember, the earlier you consign, the more exposure your pieces will receive.

There are three easy ways to consign your art to any of Pedigree’s upcoming original art auctions and the only criteria is that each piece of art must be worth no less than $100 each.

Ship your art directly to their offices in Wellington, Florida. They will inventory, scan, and upload each piece into the Grand Auction listing. The art will be listed under your personal account and you will receive email notification at the conclusion of the auction with a list of every consigned piece that sold along with the winning bid made.

Email the scans of the art you wish to consign directly to them at Randylawrence@pedigreecomics.com. They will format and upload each scan onto their server and then put each book into the Grand Auction listing. Use a .jpeg format with the resolution set at 72 and the pixel width at 550 for optimum clarity. If you do not have a scanner you can use a digital camera.

You can upload your own scans, item information, descriptions and reserve amounts, if any, by utilizing their Automated Consignment System. Just register onto the site and login, click the “Customer Page” tab under “Your Account” and then click “Consignments” (under the “Auctions” heading). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and list your own original art. Pedigree will receive an email once you have uploaded the scan and art information for each individual item into the system and they will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The items will then be added to the Grand Auction listing to be bid on. You will be amazed how simple it is to use the Automated Consignment System.
