A steadfast characteristic of every Hake’s Americana & Collectibles auction is a plethora of comic books. From Golden Age greats to popular Modern titles, they have graded and raw comics as well as a selection of signed examples.

Princess Diana of Themyscira is certainly very popular right now, making it the perfect time to get Wonder Woman #1 CGC 9.8. In lot 1321, this copy is signed by George Pérez and includes a sketch that he did on March 22, 2014. This issue features the first modern appearance of Themyscira, Gaea’s Girdle, Hippolyte, Ares, and the Olympian Gods.

Spider-Man is flying high in lot 1332. Amazing Spider-Man #39 CGC 5.5 is signed on the front and back cover by Stan Lee (on September 30, 2008) and John Romita (October 29, 2008). The issue features art by Romita and Mike Esposito with Lee story.

In lot 1345, collectors will find Iron Man #151 CGC 9.8 signed by Bob Layton on May 3, 2014. The copy is the highest graded on the CGC census, featuring story by David Michelinie with art by Luke McDonnell and Bob Layton.

X-Factor #5 CGC 9.8 signed by Louise Simonson, Ron Frenz, and Joe Rubinstein on September 8, 2013, is in lot 1354. This issue includes the first appearance of Doctor Leery with story by Peter David, cover by Ryan Sook, and art by Dennis Calero. It is the highest graded by CGC.

Lot 1355 houses X-Factor #6 CGC 8.5, signed by Stan Lee. This issue includes the first full appearance of Apocalypse and has an appearance by the Alliance of Evil. The story was written by Louise Simonson, with cover by Ron Frenz and Joe Rubinstein, and art by Jackson Guice and Bob McLeod.

The Crow #4 CGC 9.0 signed by James O’Barr with profile sketch on the back cover is in lot 1358. This was the last issue, featuring O’Barr story, cover, and art.

In lot 1359, collectors will find Usagi Yojimbo #2 CGC 9.6 signed and with a sketch by Stan Sakai. The issue includes cover, art, and story by Sakai.

Transformers: Dark Cybertron #1 CGC 9.9 is in lot 1360. The issue was signed by Rob Liefeld on November 23, 2013. It is a Virginia Comicon 2013 exclusive with a New Mutants #87 cover homage by Liefeld.

Lot 1361 houses Spawn #1 CGC 9.8, signed by Todd McFarlane. This issue includes the first appearance of Spawn, as well as a pull-out Spawn poster, Pitt pin-up by Dale Keown, and Spawn pin-up by George Pérez.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 CGC 8.5 signed by co-creator Kevin Eastman on September 13, 2014 on the back cover is in lot 1363. This is a third printing copy that includes the origin and first appearance of the Ninja Turtles, Shredder, and Splinter.

The Turtles make another appearance in lot 1364, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #4 CGC 9.6 signed by Kevin Eastman with a sketch on September 13, 2014. This issue depicts a wraparound cover by Eastman and pin-up by Jason Sklaver.
