ComicConnect’s Event Auction XXXII features the highest-graded copy of the first Archie comic book. Pep Comics #22, featuring a classic Irv Novick cover, introduced the characters Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, and Jughead in December 1941. Extremely tough to find, this CGC-certified 8.0 copy is the highest graded on the census with the next highest a grade below at 7.0.

“We are thrilled to present this very rare, and highly sought-after comic that is so much a part of our hobby’s history,” said Rob Reynolds, Director of Consignments. “Only 13 unrestored copies have ever been certified by CGC, and this is the best in the world.”

Pep Comics #22 is, by far, one of the toughest books for determined Archie fans to procure,” said Stephen Fishler, CEO of ComicConnect. “This highest certified example will be the cornerstone of some lucky winner’s investment collection.”

Pep Comics #22 CGC 8.0 will be sold alongside two copies of Pep Comics #23, Pep Comics #32 CGC 5.0, Pep Comics #38 CGC 6.0, Pep Comics #39 CGC 5.0, Pep Comics #41 CGC 6.5, and Pep Comics #42 CGC 6.0. The majority of these comics come from the collection of Larry Harris, the creator of Catfish Joe.

“In addition, we have three copies of Archie Comics #1 from which to choose and copies of Archie #2 and #3,” Fishler continued. “I wish all of our bidders the best of luck, and the will to win.”
