eMoviePoster has closed their 18th Annual Halloween Auction and drummed up some scary impressive prices. Split into three parts, the sale contained 1,002 items with total sales of $264,441.
Part I comprised of 187 items of mostly linenbacked, oversized, and stills netted $112,620. Part II filled with 449 folded one-sheets, lobby cards, and other items that ship in standard flat packages realized $90,472. Part III with 366 posters that can be sent rolled in standard tubes brought $61,349.
Top results were Son of Kong linen-backed one-sheet for $7,750, Metropolis German lobby card #6 for $6,850, The Mummy’s Hand linen-backed one-sheet for $6,750, The Invisible Man Returns linen-backed one-sheet for $5,750, Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman insert for $5,250, The Invisible Man window card for $4,800, 2001: A Space Odyssey subway poster for $4,652, Devil Girl From Mars English one-sheet for $3,800, Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman half-sheet for $3,400, Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein 1956 rerelease half-sheet for $2,656, Metropolis Dutch program for $2,601, and House of Frankenstein/Mummy’s Curse half-sheet for $2,356.
The auction achieved records for many individual items, across a wide range of years and types. While some items sold for less than expected, several others sold for much more than anticipated. They’ve been told by buyers and consignors that the sale was a major success. This auction total of $264,441 put them at $4,550,223 in sales for 2017, which means they are on track to have their best sales year ever.
Their next big event will be the December Major Auction, beginning on December 3. Their major auctions always start from scratch, so the items in this December Major Auction are all ones that have been consigned for the last major auction of the year.
