Hake’s Americana & Collectibles just wrapped Auction #222, setting a house record for total sales and several records throughout the collecting industry. Among those achievements were setting several new high price marks for a spectrum of CGC-certified comics and magazines.

A CGC-certified 7.5 copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 ascended to $140,760. Of course this key Silver Age comic from 1962 featured the first appearance of Spider-Man with a story by Stan Lee, cover by Jack Kirby, and art by Steve Ditko. It topped the previous CGC 7.5 record of $102,001.

This auction also featured a CGC 2.0 copy, which realized $13,440, beating the previous record of $12,000.

Blackhawk #9 CGC 9.6 from the Edgar Church Mile High Pedigree brought $14,135. It cruised beyond the previous record of $9,775 for the 1944 Quality Comics issue.

The 1942 copy of Green Lantern #2 CGC 8.0 (Mile High) with Bill Finger story and Martin Nodell cover and art closed at $12,390. It nearly doubled the previous record of $6,573.

The War Against Crime #10 CGC 9.8 Gaines File Copy sold for $11,235. Published in December 1949-January 1950, it included the first appearance of the Vault Keeper and Vault of Horror. It bested the record of $10,074.

Horror fans pushed Eerie Comics #1 CGC 6.5 to $4,720. The Avon comic from 1947 includes art by Joe Kubert and Bob Fujitani. It tripled the previous record of $1,525.

Another Mile High Pedigree sale was Shadow Comics Vol. 2 #6 CGC 9.6 from 1943 that went for $4,711. It is the highest and only copy in this grade on the CGC Census, topping the former record of $2,760.

A copy of 1945’s All-Flash #21 CGC 9.4 (Mile High Pedigree) reached $4,568. This is the highest and only copy in this grade on the CGC Census, which was previously sold for $2,600.

A Gaines File Copy of Crime SuspenStories #2 CGC 9.8 from December 1950-January 1951 brought $4,413. It beat the previous record of $4,003.

Marvel Mystery Comics #79 CGC 9.4 from 1946 netted $4,256. This copy is one of only two in this grade, and bested the previous record of $3,884.
