Weiss Auctions is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a sale of sports items, comics, comic art, animation, and more. Collectors can view a sample of items in the sale at weissauctions.com.

The sale will have sports cards and autographs, highlighted by a signed and dated 1948 Babe Ruth oversized photo inscribed “To the Golden Strand” Hotel (JSA LOA), original silver gelatin photo “Jackie Robinson Steal’s Home” signed and numbered by Nat Fein, scarce 1960s Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris Nodders, 1932 R114 U.S. Caramels “US Presidents” with rare McKinley card, and more.

Comics including an estate found copy of Detective Comics #29 (first appearance of Doctor Death), nice Golden Age Action Comics #76-200, Silver Age key books including some graded, large group lots of Silver and Golden Age books and bulk lots of newer issues.

Comic art in the auction comes from the Joe Kubert Collection featuring many original comic covers including Hawkman, All Star Squadron, Unexpected, and more; from another collection there’s a 1964 Hal Foster Prince Valiant Sunday page, signed Gene Colan Doctor Strange #27 cover page, signed George Pérez Avengers #141 splash page, and more; and animation art highlighted by an original Eyvind Earle illustration and original Mary Blair Peter Pan concept illustration.

The auction will have two large collections of original comic, political, cartoon and animation art, non-sports cards will feature sets and large bulk lots from a dealer’s estate, and there will be even more.
