In their next Event Auction, ComicConnect will offer a copy of Detective Comics #168 CGC 7.5 to collectors. The book features a classic cover by Lew Schwartz and contains the first origin story for Batman’s arch-nemesis, the Joker. While the Crown Prince of Crime’s humble beginnings have grown and changed over the years, this sequence of events has been featured prominently in film, television, and many comics since.

“Few villains have been able to resonate with society as intensely as the Joker,” Vincent Zurzolo, ComicConnect COO, said. “His popularity is palpable, not only among comic book aficionados, but casual admirers as well.”

DC Comic’s Harlequin of Hate is not the only character established in this issue. As part of his origin, readers come to find that he once committed crimes in disguise under the name the Red Hood. Several characters have adopted this moniker over the years including one of Batman’s sidekicks.

This piece of DC comics history will be open on February 26, 2018 at 12 PM ET.

ComicConnect is currently accepting consignments for their next major auction, on a first come, first served basis. Those interested in consigning can contact them by calling toll free (888) 779-7377 or email their staff at support@comicconnect.com. Cash advances up to $5 million are available.
