With their Winter Featured Auction just launched, ComicLink has turned their full attention to gathering consignments for other upcoming auctions including the March Focused Auction which will begin on March 15, the April Focused Auction which will include a session for vintage certified coins, and the Spring Featured Auction which will begin on May 3. Interested sellers may contact ComicLink by emailing buysell@comiclink.com or by calling (617) 517-0062 (option 1) to speak with Josh Nathanson, Douglas Gillock, Jason Crosby, Jon Signorelli, or Ross Kearney. In addition to auctioning items for consignors, ComicLink is also always accepting new sellers for the ComicLink exchange marketplaces, brokering private placement deals, and buying outright.
“We have some incredible material already consigned to some of our upcoming auctions. The Spring Featured Auction has two mega-keys already posted, Journey Into Mystery #83 (first Thor) CGC 9.4 with White Pages and Tales of Suspense #39 (first Iron Man) CGC 9.4,” ComicLink founder and CEO Josh Nathanson said. “These two major first appearances very rarely come up for public auction in true Near Mint condition. With their key roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor and Iron Man have gone from being long-time Marvel comic book stars to being two of the most popular fictional characters on the planet. With the massive anticipation for the third Avengers film, Avengers: Infinity War ‒ opening on May 4 ‒ Iron Man and Thor will continue to be in the spotlight in an enormous way.”
Some of the early original art highlights include Art Adams’ cover to Classic X-Men #12, which was his homage to Kirby’s X-Men #1 cover showing the “New” X-Men battling Magneto in place of the original team. There’s also a Jim Lee page from X-Men #8 featuring Rogue along with Gambit and Bishop. The X-Men will be in the spotlight later this year with X-Men: Dark Phoenix opening in November. They also have an important Dave Gibbons page from the final issue (#12) of the historic Watchmen series. It’s the key page where Ozymandias explains his infamous plot to save the world to Rorschach and Nite Owl. The Watchmen characters are currently starring in the popular comic book, Doomsday Clock. Meanwhile, Damon Lindelof, the creator behind the TV series Lost and The Leftovers, is working on a Watchmen series for HBO, likely to begin airing in late 2018 or 2019.
