An original Batman ’66 cover for issue 6 by Mike Allred of Madman fame will be up for bids in ComicConnect’s Event Auction. Bat-fans can start bidding on Monday, February 26, 2018, at 12 PM ET.
“Batman has been immensely popular in every decade since his creation,” ComicConnect Sales Executive Andrew Sanford said. “But something about the fun and camp of the ’60s TV show still resonates with people in a substantial fashion.”
The cover features the Dynamic Duo and original Batman ’66 TV show villain, the Bookworm. The characters are stylized to mirror their on-air counterparts. “Allred was an amazing choice to do these covers. His pop art style meshes incredibly well with the over-the-top aesthetic that the show was known for,” Sanford said. “Plus, Allred fans can go after the variant cover to Astonishing Ant-Man #1!”
Original art investment collectors can devour another selection of The Walking Dead art at ComicConnect. More highlights include the cover to Avengers #123 by John Romita, a Gil Kane Invaders #13 cover and a Hulk battle page from Tales to Astonish #88, an Arvell Jones splash from Iron Man #74, an action-packed McFarlane Venom page from the classic Amazing Spider-Man #316, and a stunning Barry Windsor-Smith X-Men #186 panel page featuring Storm and Forge. “Please don’t miss the original production art for Superman and the Mole Men one-sheet poster from 1951,” Sanford concluded.
