“Collectors of all stripes go crazy for these books,” Rob Reynolds, ComicConnect’s Director of Consignments, said. “While this batch comes in on the more valuable side of the coin, early copies of Detective Comics are among the most in-demand comics anywhere.” In their current Event Auction, dozens of copies are up for grabs.

They include Detective Comics #18 CGC 8.0, #27 CGC 6.0 Rockford copy, #28 CGC 5.0, #29 CGC 3.5, #31 CGC 4.5, #33 CGC 6.5, #35 CGC 5.5, #36 CGC 8.0, #37 CGC 8.0, #38 CBCS 3.0, #40 CGC 5.5, #66 CGC 6.5, and #71 CBCS 8.0.

“Many of the issues have multiple copies certified a little lower for our investors on a budget,” Reynolds said. “Collectors can go after a coverless copy of #27 as well as lower graded copies of almost all of the pre-Robin Detective Comics.”

The earlier Batman stories depict a stern, driven figure of the night squared off against broken, obsessive madmen and mad scientists, and is the most enduring of iterations. DC Comics history is packed in the pages of these investment comics with first appearances, classic covers, and many of the background stories that created the Batman mythos we know today.

The Detective Comics auction ends the evening of March 21, 2018 starting at 7 PM ET.

The auction end-dates are as follows:
Session 1 (original comic art and memorabilia) March 19
Session 2 (Action Comics #1 - Black Laughter #1) March 20
Session 3 (Black Panther - Fantastic Four) March 21
Session 4 (Fantastic Four #70 - Showcase) March 22
Session 5 (Showcase #31 - Zip Comics) March 23
