The currently open ComicLink Focused Auction will begin closing soon with Session 1 (Silver Age and early Bronze Age) ending on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 24-25, 2018, both at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT. Session 2 (Golden Age) will end on Thursday, July 26 at the same times. Additional sessions including late Bronze/Modern comics, assorted comics, and original art will be held between Friday, July 27 and Wednesday, August 1.

“Whether you collect Golden, Silver, Bronze, or Modern Age comics, or original artwork, or all of it, it is very likely that you will find something in this auction you’ll want to add to your collection,” ComicLink founder and President Josh Nathanson said. “The Focused Auction which offers thousands of items with a starting bid of $1 and no seller reserve, includes thousands of certified comic books from every era from the Golden Age to the present, as well as over 500 examples of comic related and fantasy original artwork rendered by hundreds of different artists.”

Some of the highlights include Detective Comics #76 (classic Robinson Joker cover) CGC 9.0, Amazing Fantasy #15 (first Spider-Man and origin) CGC 4.5, Amazing Spider-Man #129 CGC 9.8 (first Punisher), Avengers #1 (first Avengers) CGC 7.0 and #4 (first Silver Age Captain America) CGC 9.0, several issues of Captain America Comics with Alex Schomburg covers, a full run of the pre-code horror title Ghost Comics (a number in high grade) and Crypt of Terror #18 CGC 8.5 along with a wide variety of pre-code horror comic books, many classic World War II covers, Incredible Hulk #181 (first full Wolverine) CGC 9.2, as well as CGC 9.8 examples of key Modern comics such as Star Wars #1, Amazing Spider-Man #300 (first full Venom), Batman Adventures #12 (first Harley Quinn in comics), Marvel Graphic Novel #4 (first New Mutants), and The Walking Dead #1.

Original art highlights include a spectacular Jim Lee illustration of Batman vs. the Joker, a John Cassaday Superman cover with Talia Al Ghul, a Jim Steranko Captain America illustration, a Tim Sale page featuring the Red Skull, a J.H. Williams portrait of Dream from Neil Gaiman’s classic series, The Sandman, and many covers, splashes, and panel pages rendered by hundreds of popular artists for a wide variety of titles.

In addition to the highlights mentioned above, other Silver Age, and early Bronze Age highlights include Avengers #2 CGC 9.2, Fantastic Four #2 (second Fantastic Four, first Skrulls) CGC 7.5, Tales of Suspense #57 (first Hawkeye) CGC 9.2, Conan the Barbarian #1 (first Conan in comics) CGC 9.8, Sub-Mariner #1 CGC 9.8, Warlock #1 CGC 9.8, and Giant-Size X-Men #1 (first “New” X-Men) CGC 9.4.

Other key issues from the Silver Age include Action Comics #252 (first Supergirl and origin), Amazing Spider-Man #1, Brave and the Bold #28 (first Justice League of America), Daredevil #1 (first Daredevil and origin), Fantastic Four #1 (first Fantastic Four and origin), #4 (first Silver Age Sub-Mariner), and #5 (first Doctor Doom), Flash #123 (“Flash of Two Worlds”), Green Lantern #76, Justice League of America #1, Sgt. Fury #1 (first Nick Fury), Tales of Suspense #39 (first Iron Man and origin), Tales to Astonish #44 (first Wasp and origin), and X-Men #1 (first X-Men and Magneto).   

There is an extensive list of Golden Age comic book offerings that include All-Star Comics #29 (Justice Society of America cover/story) CGC 9.2 Ohio Pedigree, Sensation Comics #19 (Wonder Woman cover) CGC 8.5, Green Lantern #20 CGC 9.2 (top two), Marvel Mystery Comics #65 (Schomburg cover) CGC 8.0, Human Torch #29 CGC 8.5, Ghost Comics #1 CGC 8.5 (there is a rare, complete run of this title in the auction), Crypt of Terror #18 CGC 8.5, and Gene Autry Comics #7 CGC 9.4.

There classic covers like Detective Comics #69 (classic Robinson Joker), Famous Funnies #209 and #215 (Frazetta Buck Rogers), National Comics #12 (Lou Fine Hitler cover), Superman #53 (origin), Captain America Comics #57 (Giant Cap and Bucky) as well as four Schomburg covers from the title, United States Marines #3 (Tojo flame thrower cover), plus many examples by horror and science fiction master cover artist, L.B. Cole.

Golden Age keys include Mad #1, Batman #16 (first Alfred), Detective Comics #122 (first Catwoman cover), All Winners Comics #21 (scarce second All-Winners Squad), Mystery in Space #1, Pep Comics #41 (Archie covers begin), and Dennis the Menace #1 (first Dennis in comic books). In addition, there are runs of uncommon 1940s and 1950s DC and Timely superhero issues and a plethora of pre-code horror, sci-fi, crime, romance, and WWII themed covers.

The auction offers close to 2,000 certified late Bronze through Modern Age (1976-present) comic books, a large percentage in pristine condition, with many of the key issues in numerous conditions. Top highlights include keys like Amazing Spider-Man #300 (first full Venom) CGC 9.8 and #700 (“death” of Peter Parker) CGC 9.8 Ditko variant, New Mutants #98 (first Deadpool) CGC 9.8, Batman Adventures #12 (first Harley Quinn in comics) CGC 9.8, Love and Rockets #1 (1981, first Maggie and Hopey) CGC 9.8, Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #23 variant (spectacular Adam Hughes cover) CGC 9.8 Signature Series signed by Hughes, and The Walking Dead #1 CGC 9.8. Leading up to the X-Men: Dark Phoenix movie, they have X-Men #101 (first Phoenix) CBCS 9.6, #134 (Phoenix becomes Dark Phoenix) CGC 9.8, and #135 (first full Dark Phoenix) CGC 9.8.

The original art session contains close to 550 comic and fantasy related lots rendered by hundreds of different artists from Golden, Silver, and Bronze Age that include Neal Adams, Ross Andru, Jim Aparo, C.C. Beck, Frank Brunner, Sal Buscema, John Byrne, Gene Colan, Jose Delbo, José Luis García-López, Carmine Infantino, Mike Kaluta, Jack Kamen, Bob Kane, Gil Kane, Jim Mooney,  Irv Novick, George Pérez, Don Perlin, Keith Pollard, Jerry Robinson, Marshall Rogers, Jim Starlin, Jim Steranko, Alex Toth, Herb Trimpe, and Boris Vallejo.

Additionally, these Modern era artists include Art Adams, Charlie Adlard, Azpiri, Chris Bachalo, Mark Bagley, Ed Benes, Brian Bolland, John Cassaday, Ian Churchill, Tony Daniel, Alan Davis, Mike Deodato, Gary Frank, Tony Harris, Greg Hildebrandt, J.G.
