Quantcast

A pair of powerful, patriotic heroes are among the featured lots in Heritage’s current Sunday Internet Comics, Animation & Art Auction. Set to close on Sunday, August 19, 2018, Heritage is offering a copy of Superman #38 and Bill Sienkiewicz Captain America original art.

Superman #38 depicts the memorable cover by Jack Burnley that demonstrates Superman’s powers in a different way. Typically, Superman displays his strength by lifting cars and other objects, but this cover shows the Man of Steel trying to get a haircut but there’s a problem – the scissors keep breaking.

The barber on the cover is holding gardening shears and is surrounded by broken scissors and clippers destroyed while trying to cut Superman’s hair. Making it even more amusing, Supe’s is reading a copy of Batman #32 – an issue that contains an appearance by Lex Luthor. This copy is graded Good/Very Good.

Bill Sienkiewicz’s Captain America original illustration art shows the red, white, and blue hero in a bold, powerful image. The patriotic super-soldier is about 12” tall in ink on 11” x 17” white Bristol board. The art is signed by Sienkiewicz, the classically trained painter who incorporates abstract and expressionist influences.

These two pieces are part of the 1,017 lots of comic books, original comic art, and memorabilia in the current Sunday auction. Bidding opens at 6 PM CT on ha.com.
