Quantcast

The August Major Auction at eMoviePoster is now open and set to close on Sunday, August 19, 2018. Part IV, which ends Sunday, contains 279 rolled posters, plus paperbacked posters, and 22” x 28” personality posters.

Of special note in Part IV is the collection of 99 special personality posters. They were created by major studios between 1912 and the late 1940s to promote their top stars, but few of them have survived. The collection began in the mid-1980s, with upgraded conditions added when possible, so many are considered in excellent condition and some may be the best surviving examples. This consignment of special posters is being auctioned in separate auctions.

Featured personality posters in this auction are Carole Lombard from 1936, Laurel & Hardy from the 1930s, the Marx Brothers from the 1930s, and Jean Harlow from the 1930s.

This part of the auction contains 14 Star Wars posters, led by the rare 1978 concert poster, which was autographed by score composer John Williams. Along with the concert poster, Part IV features one-sheets of Star Wars international style C with Tom Chantrell art, Return of the Jedi dated teaser with Drew Struzan art, and Empire Strikes Back studio style B/Gone with the Wind with art by Roger Kastel.

Additional highlights in Part IV are Ocean’s 11 insert showing Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and others, The Other Man stone litho one-sheet with Fatty Arbuckle, Jaws one-sheet with Roger Kastel art, Vertigo insert and a style A half-sheet with Saul Bass art of Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak, War of the Worlds insert with great monster art, Pulp Fiction recalled Lucky Strikes advance one-sheet, Not of This Earth one-sheet with close-up of Beverly Garland and the alien monster, After the Thin Man prewar Belgian poster with different art, and Attack of the Crab Monsters insert for the Roger Corman flick.

eMoviePoster doesn’t just auction movie posters. They also auction many tens of thousands of vintage stills, lobby cards, signed items of all types, as well as scripts, all sorts of special posters (travel, war, and limited edition prints), and more. The next one begins on August 21. They also hold a special giant auction of bulk lots once every month. Collectors interested in bidding with them can sign up on their Registration Page.
