“The Golden Age session was the largest we’ve ever and the results indicated a very healthy market for this hard-to-find vintage material. Sales records were not just broken, they were decimated with many examples beating previous records by a wide margin,” Nathanson said. “Great prices were generated across the board, but the areas showing the most momentum were pre-code horror, good girl art, Batman titles featuring popular villains, and covers by master artists, Alex Schomburg and L.B. Cole. The majority of these comic books are mid-grade or low-grade examples, which reflects the overall market for Golden Age. It’s exciting to see higher prices being paid for some desired comic books even in very low grade, e.g. Mask Comics #1 CGC 0.5 selling for $2,260, Terrific Comics #5 CGC 0.5 selling for $1,801, and Marvel Mystery Comics #5 CGC 0.5 selling for $1,700.”
