The current ComicConnect Original Art auction features over 500 original art lots, including a Jack Kirby splash page for Tales of Suspense #11.

Before the superhero resurgence of the 1960s, Jack Kirby and Stan Lee carved out gems of science fiction-tinged horror. The kooky monster stories that populated the pages of Tales of Suspense are possibly the most entertaining of Kirby illustrations.

Informed by the popularity of Atom Age potboilers and giant insect B-movies, the creative duo honed their style and developed the partnership that would bloom into the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and a slew of other characters that are now household names.

“Kirby splash pages are not easy to find on the open market and are always the subject of heated competition at auction,” said Vincent Zurzolo, COO of ComicConnect. “This is a real treasure from that fertile period for Lee and Kirby when they were just a few issues away from the Marvel Universe as we know it. Any true believer would be thrilled to own this wonderful piece.”
