On November 15, 2018, Legend Rare Coin Auctions’ Regency Auction 29, saw fine results across the auction block. As the official auctioneer of the PCGS Members Only Show in San Antonio, Texas, activity from the start was strong and the pace carried through the live sale.
In the auction, more than 90% of the sales were to collectors with many cases seeing multiple bidders per lot. Highlights from this sale included H.01 1793 PCGS AU53 CAC for $41,125; 1C 1814 PCGS MS 66 RB for $88,125; 5C 1912-D PCGS MS67 for $41,125; 5C 1900 PCGS PR68 CAC for $21,150; 10C 1959-D PCGS MS68 FT for $5,288; $11889-CC PCGS MS63 DMPL CAC for $73,438; and $1 1924-S PCGS MS65 CAC for $17,038.
As well as $10 1857-S PCGS MS64 CAC S.S.C.A for $76,375; $2.50 1909 PCGS PR65 CAC for $88,125; $3 1888 PCGS PR66+ CAC for $67,563; $5 1795 PCGS MS62 CAC for $176,250; $5 1811 PCGS MS64 CAC for $52,875; and $20 1906 PCGS MS66 for $64,625.
“I was sweating out as to what direction this sale was going take. It wasn’t until the very last minute that collectors began appearing and really putting in strong numbers on the better coins. Right now it is all about quality,” said Laura Sperber, founder of LRCA.
Legend Rare Coin Auctions is now moving forward preparing for their first standalone sale to be held in Beverly Hills California Pre-Long Beach on January 27, 2019. They already have two major anchor collections and many single neat coins still to be announced. The consignment deadline for that sale is December 3, 2018.
