ComicLink’s Winter Featured Auction will soon be drawing to a close, with a large selection of certified comic books and comic and fantasy related original artwork. Session 1 comic book lots close on Tuesday through Thursday, February 26-28, starting at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT each evening. Session 2 comic book lots close on Monday, March 3. The Original Artwork Session closes on Tuesday, March 4. The auction presents major keys from every era, classic covers from all genres, pedigree examples, high grade comics, and a world class selection of original art, according to ComicLink.

Among the many comic book highlights in the Winter Featured Auction is a selection of Spider-Man issues with Amazing Fantasy #15 (first Spider-Man and origin) CBCS 8.0 and CGC 4.5, and a selection of Silver and Bronze Age Amazing Spider-Man issues like #1 CGC 6.5, #3 (first Doctor Octopus) CGC 9.2, #10 (first Enforcers) CGC 9.8 CVA Exceptional, #50 (first Kingpin) CGC 9.6, #101 (first Morbius) CGC 9.8, and #129 (first Punisher) CGC 9.8. There are dozens of other Amazing Spider-Man issues in the Near Mint range, many certified CGC 9.8 and CGC 9.6.

Some classic Golden Age covers in the offerings are Startling Comics #49 (Schomburg robot cover) CGC 8.5, Brenda Starr #14 CGC 7.0, and Phantom Lady #17 and #23 (Baker covers). The auction features sci-fi offerings like Strange Adventures #1 CGC 9.4 (highest, one of three), the teen humor title Patsy Walker #1 CGC 9.2 (top two), some jungle books like Jungle Comics #1 (first Kaanga) CGC 8.5, a selection of pre-code horror like Weird Mysteries #5 (Bailey “Brain” cover) CGC 6.0, and a selection of rare Fox Giants as well as many other rare romance issues.

Original art includes Dave Cockrum’s Ms. Marvel #18 cover, one of the best covers from Carol Danvers’ Bronze Age run, as well as Cockrum’s Captain Marvel #58 cover featuring Mar-Vell being attacked by Drax. Other art highlights are the John Buscema and Joe Sinnott title splash from Fantastic Four #112, one of the greatest Thing vs. Hulk battles ever (also available is the finale splash from #111 that sets up this splash); Al Williamson cover to Weird Fantasy #18 with a rare Ray Bradbury signature; Richard Corben Fantagor #4 cover; John Romita Amazing Spider-Man #61 page with three panels of Spidey in action and a huge image of the Kingpin; John Romita Jr. Amazing Spider-Man #224 cover with the Vulture and Bob Layton inks; the well known Neal Adams page from X-Men #59 where the Sentinels fly off into the sun, with inks by Tom Palmer; Rich Buckler Thor #244 cover with Sinnott inks; and a key Jim Starlin page from Captain Marvel #25 featuring the second appearance of Thanos, published just a month after Iron Man #55.

Other art offerings include an historic title splash which is actually John Byrne’s first ever depiction of the Sentinels (Byrne finishes from Tuska layouts) published in Champions #17; Frank Miller page from Wolverine Limited Series #1, the historic premiere issue of Wolverine’s first solo series; Jim Aparo complete story from Batman #433, which houses the famous storyline “The Many Deaths of the Batman”; Al Milgrom cover to Marvel Treasury Edition #26, which had the first Wolverine solo story ever, promoted on the cover, which features the Hulk vs. MODOK as the main visual; “Dick Sprang Remembers…”, an retrospective of the legendary Batman artist’s work published in Detective Comics #572; Don Heck Avengers #11 page with Spider-Man from the first time he crossed over into that title; and the memorable Lee Bermejo “To Mock You” page from The Joker graphic novel.
