eMoviePoster’s four-part June Major Auction has concluded with $478,667 in total sales. Containing 1,595 items, the auction had pieces in a variety of sizes from all over the world and across film history.

Part I, featuring 399 US linen-backed one-sheets and larger posters, closed at $125,358. Part II with 388 other linen-backed posters realized $81,318. Part III, containing non-linen-backed items like lobby cards and stills, brought $150,320. Part IV, the all-Star Wars installment, closed at $121,671.

Top results were Master Mystery chapter 9 one-sheet for $28,500, Bullitt international six-sheet for $6,497, 2001: A Space Odyssey Cinerama standee for $5,250, Creature from the Black Lagoon style B half-sheet for $5,120, Bullitt international three-sheet for $4,521, War of the Worlds 1965 rerelease one-sheet for $4,504, Star Wars Trilogy one-sheet for $9,588, Star Wars style A six-sheet for $9,102, and Star Wars concert poster for $8,150.

eMoviePoster reported that this auction shows that the movie poster collecting market is strong and collectors are willing to pay high prices for rarities. Their consignors gave them hundreds of items that they had either never auctioned or rarely sold in the past.

The auction house also noted that while older posters from the early days of film command high prices, some of the biggest prices they saw came from the 1960s and 1970s, including 2001: A Space Odyssey and Bullitt. They also reported that the special all-Star Wars part saw high price results.

eMoviePoster does not list items with reserves or buyer’s premiums and they use unenhanced super-sized images. Items match their described condition, are packed well for shipping, and combine shipping charges.
