Title cards, one-sheets, and larger format posters representing some of the most iconic films in history will be sold in Heritage’s upcoming Movie Posters Auction on July 27-28, 2019 in Dallas.
“This auction includes very rare paper, some of which comes from some of the most popular films of all time, like Dracula, Casablanca, and Gone with the Wind,” Heritage Vintage Posters Director Grey Smith said. “This is an auction with appealing options for many collectors, because of the diversity of the lots offered.”
The Dracula title lobby card depicts a dramatic rendering of Bela Lugosi as the notorious vampire. Lugosi had starred in the stage version of Dracula and shared his intense performance with generations of film audiences in the classic 1931 Universal horror movie.
The rare Gone with the Wind three-sheet is one of only two copies known in existence for the sweeping epic. This auction will be the first in which Heritage has offered this gem from the Theaters of Old Detroit Collection.
The Golem CGC-graded title lobby card spotlights another significant horror movie from early German Impressionism. This extremely rare title card showing the Golem is one of a small number known to exist and is just the second from the film offered at auction.
A Foolish Wives one-sheet that is the only known copy of the stone lithograph for the Erich von Stroheim-led film is being offered by Heritage for the first time.
An insert for The Hunchback of Notre Dame is one of only three copies known to exist and is offered by Heritage for the first time. This film helped create the momentum for Universal’s slate of popular horror films from the early 20th century.
The 39 Steps one-sheet advertises one of Alfred Hitchcock’s first major international successes, which features some of the elements that would play important roles in many of his films.
The auction features two scarce pieces for Casablanca, one of the most highly regarded movies in history. Heritage will offer a window card and an Australian one-sheet for this multiple Oscar winner.
Other top lots include a Dracula lobby card, This Gun for Hire linen-backed one-sheet, Mickey Mouse in Alpine Climbers silk screen poster, and a Mickey Mouse in The Barn Dance stock one-sheet.
