The latest ComicLink Focused Auction is now open with a selection of Golden to Modern Age comics and related original art. There are many comic books offered within this auction, all starting at $1 and with no seller reserve price. Within the auction is a large and diverse selection of scarce Golden Age comic books, and an extensive selection of key and high grade Silver to Modern Age comics, most certified by CGC and CBCS. The auction also contains over 400 examples of original art rendered by Golden Age to Modern artists like Jim Starlin, John Romita Jr., Gil Kane, Gene Colan, Tim Sale, James Jean, Curt Swan, Herb Trimpe, Russ Heath, Nick Cardy, Tony Daniel, Joe Madureira, and many more.
The auction will begin closing early next Tuesday, July 23, 2019, starting with select key and high grade Silver Age and early Bronze Age (pre-1976) books. Lots will continue closing on weekdays until the art session ends on Wednesday, July 31.
Some top highlights from the Silver and early Bronze Ages include Amazing Fantasy #15 CBCS 4.5, Journey Into Mystery #83 (first Thor) CGC 6.5, Avengers #1 CGC 7.0, Amazing Spider-Man #1 CGC 4.0 Signature Series Stan Lee and #3 (first Doctor Octopus) CGC 8.5, X-Men #1 (first X-Men and Magneto) CGC 5.5, Incredible Hulk #181 (first full Wolverine) CGC 9.8, Giant-Size X-Men #1 (first New X-Men) CGC 9.8, Daredevil #1 (first Daredevil) CGC 8.0, Marvel Spotlight #5 (first Ghost Rider), Werewolf By Night #32 (first Moon Knight) CGC 9.6, and Special Marvel Edition #15 (first Shang-Chi) CGC 9.8. DC highlights include House of Secrets #92 (first Swamp Thing) in CGC 9.2 and Flash #108 (fourth issue, third Grodd) CBCS 9.4 (single highest graded).
Golden Age material is a diverse selection including the uncommon key Superman #1 (coverless) and dozens of examples of classic covers including Wings Comics #90 CGC 8.5, Batman #11 (first Batman Joker cover) CGC 3.0, Captain America Comics #35 (WWII cover) CGC 8.5, and Human Torch #8 (Schomburg Torch vs. Sub-Mariner battle cover) CGC 6.0. The Golden Age selection includes many other Alex Schomburg covers as well as covers by his fellow cover masters, L.B. Cole and Matt Baker. There are some shocking pre-code horror and crime comic books.
Late Bronze and Modern material includes examples of most of the keys from those eras including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 CGC 7.5, Amazing Spider-Man #194 (first Black Cat) CGC 9.8 and #300 CGC 9.8 (first full Venom), Batman Adventures #12 (first Harley Quinn in comics) CGC 9.8, Eternals #1 CGC 9.8, Ms. Marvel #1 CGC 9.8, New Mutants #98 (first Deadpool) CGC 9.8, and many more.
