Hake’s Auction #227 brought in yet another million-dollar sale for the auction house. Their latest premier auction featured over 2,000 lots of high grade collectibles across a variety of categories to realize a total of $1.5 million. Among the pop culture collectibles that saw fine results was the selection of superhero premiums.

A litho button of Wonder Woman crushed the low-end estimate of $700 when it hammered for $5,192. This glossy button was offered to Sensation Comics readers in 1942.

Another litho button, this one showcasing the Flash raced past the estimate of $700 to realize $4,327. This premium was offered to All-Flash readers who filled out a readers survey coupon in All-Flash #6 in 1942.

A U.S. Jones Cadets Club Kit ended at $4,543, doubling the low-end estimate of $2,000. The five-piece kit was issued shortly after the patriotic superhero made his debut in Wonderworld Comics #28.

A mailing envelope with Captain America’s return address, typed recipient address and full body Captain America and Bucky illustrations containing the first issued membership kit from 1941 rose to $2,827. This rare kit contains a 1-1/2” tall brass badge with Captain America art by Al Avison.

All prices realized include a 18% buyers premium. The full list of prices realized in Auction #227 can be seen on Hake’s website.
