Ever since the announcement of the Inhumans TV show, the words “inhuman royal family” have been tossed around quite a bit. But how much do you really know about this infamous royal family?

The Inhuman Royal Family is considered the ruling class of the the Inhumans. Key members of this family include Medusa, Black Bolt, Crystal, Gordon, Karnak, and Maximus. All of these characters were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and had their first appearances in either Fantastic Four #36, 44, 45, or 47. Black Bolt is known as the King of the Inhumans while his wife Medusa is the Queen. Black Bolt has an incredibly destructive hypersonic voice, that is so powerful he has undergone rigorous mental training to prevent himself from ever uttering a sound. His wife Medusa, who was briefly a member of the Fantastic Four and the Frightful Four, possesses the psychokinetic ability to animate her hair. Together, these two serve as one heck of a power couple and have a son with psychic abilities named Ahura.

Medusa’s sister, Crystal, has the power to manipulate Earth, air, fire, and water. Crystal is a princess of the royal family and was even married to Quicksilver, of the X-Men, for a brief time. They had one child together, Luna, who was the first child to be born to a mutant and an inhuman. Black Bolt’s brother, Maximus, has been portrayed as both a member of and antagonist to the Inhumans. Maximus has the power of mind-control and continually attempts to overthrow his brother. Gordon, Black Bolt’s cousin, has bull-like legs in place of actual legs that can create intense shockwaves. Karnak is also Black Bolt’s cousin and serves as a priest and a philosopher. Karnak chose not to expose himself to the Terrigen Mists, but is a superb martial artist.

This multifaceted family will be brought to life on ABC on September 29, 2017 at 8 PM. The linear premiere follows a two-week run in IMAX theaters beginning September 1. Marvel’s Inhumans stars Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Ken Leung as Karnak, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, and Iwan Rheon as Maximus.
