Within the past few years, the trend for adapting comic book’s into film and television has grown exponentially. Netflix is full of various Marvel adaptations, including Daredevil and Jessica Jones, but beginning November 2017, Hulu is releasing an adaptation of their own. Do you know what series this is for? 

Runways, created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, debuted in July 2003. Initially, this series centered around a group of six kids whose parents would meet together annually for a supposed charity event. During one visit, the children decide to spy on their parents and what they discover changes them forever. It turns out their parents belong to a criminal group of mob bosses, time travelers, dark wizards, mad scientists, alien invaders, and telepathic mutants known as The Pride. Shocked by this realization, the kids steal their parents various weapons and resources and discover that they have each inherited their parents’ powers. Together, the self-dubbed Runaways, band together to defeat their parents, and atone for the sins of their parents. A heavy task that often involves fighting the new threats trying to fill The Pride’s void.

Leading the original team was child prodigy Alex Wilder, who is also the son mafia bosses; along with Nico Minoru/Sister Grimm, daughter of dark wizards, who is a witch capable of manipulating magic; Karolina Dean/Lucky in the Sky, daughter of alien invaders and a solar-powered alien herself; Molly Hayes/Princess Powerful, daughter of telepathic mutants, whose powers include super-strength and invulnerability; Chase Stein/Talkback, son of mad scientists, who uses flame generating/manipulating gauntlets; and Gertrude Yorkes/Arsenic, daughter of time traveling criminals, who has an empathic and telepathic link with Old Lace – a genetically engineered dinosaur.  

Marvel’s Runaways stars Rhenzy Feliz (Teen Wolf), Lyrica Okano (Once A Cheerleader), Virginia Gardner (Tell Me How I Die), Ariela Barer (Stellina Blue), Gregg Sulkin (Don’t Hang Up), Allegra Acosta (American Girl), Ryan Sands (Speed-Dating), Angel Parker (The Female Brain), Brittany Ishibashi (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), James Yaegashi (The Collective), Kevin Weisman (Flipped), Brigid Brannagh (They’re Watching), Annie Wersching (The Other Mother), Kip Pardue (Remember the Titans), James Marsters (Dragonball Evolution), Ever Carradine (Guns for Hire), and Julian McMahon (Fantastic Four). 

The series will be streaming on Hulu starting on November 21, consisting of 10 episodes.
