Cartoonist Batton Lash has self-published his Supernatural Law comics and trade paperbacks for more than 20 years. The horror-comedy series tells the story about two lawyers who defend monsters and supernatural beings. The popular series has won numerous awards.
Lash has launched a Kickstarter campaign to publish A Vampire in Hollywood, And Other Stories of Supernatural Law, the seventh volume in the graphic novel series. Previous volumes include Supernatural Law #1-40 and the spinoff series Mavis #1-4. This new 192-page graphic novel will collect #41-45 and Mavis #5. It comes with an introduction by Jeff Smith, the writer-artist of the bestselling series, Bone.
Lash’s goal is to raise $9,500 to produce and print the book in time for Comic-Con International: San Diego. Backers can sign up to be Hollywood players of their choice from gaffers to producers. At the “Supporting Player” level backers will get a set of six postcards depicting covers of the comics in the collection. The “Key Grip” level earns the postcards and the book signed by Lash. The “Special FX” level comes with a personalized drawing by Lash in their copy of the book.
Other premiums and add-ons include other volumes of Supernatural Law, t-shits, a 2017 calendar, French and Spanish collections of the first issues, and customized original paintings by Lash.
