Note, there are spoilers ahead for those who haven't watched Monday's episode of Supergirl.

Well color me surprised but I actually really enjoyed this week's episode of Supergirl. This episode finally had a solid storyline, and kept an exciting pace throughout the entire thing. More episodes like this please!

While National City is experiencing the worst solar storm in history, Kara is experiencing a vivid hallucination in which she is safely beside her family on Krypton. Though part of her knows this is a trick, the fantasy is so sweet it starts to pull her deeper in.

Kara's estranged Aunt Astra discovered it was Non who did this to Kara, so she tells Alex how to save her niece.

Apparently, Non used a telepathic alien parasite called the Black Mercy, which is leeching off Kara while she experiences a lifelike fantasy. A fantasy that in order to survive, Kara must willingly reject on her own.

Alex goes to Maxwell Lord asking for help to project her mind into Kara's as well, to help coax her from this fantasy. Despite having been beaten up just hours before, Maxwell agrees to help. Not that he had much of a choice anyway, but still.

Meanwhile, Hank uses his powers as J'onn J'onzz to shapeshift into Kara to cover for her at work. This was actually one of the funniest parts of the entire episode, maybe even the entire season.

Back at the DEO, Winn discovered the solar storm is a cover, and is working to find out what Non and Astra's next move is. At the same time, Alex is struggling to convince Kara to leave this fake life and come back to her.

Alex uses the most powerful thing imaginable to break this spell on Kara: words. In a touching moment between the two sisters, Alex is able to move Kara to reject this life. An unbelievably difficult choice which leaves Kara very angry when she finally wakes up.

The adorkable genius Winn figures out that Non is planning on overriding all of the Lord Tech servers, embedding a virus he calls Myriad. Kara tears after Non and unleashes a beating of epic proportions.

While Kara beats the crap out of Non, Alex and J'onn J'onzz are dealing with Astra. Alex tries to convince her to change sides but in the end Alex is forced to kill her. Kara quickly flies over to share a tearful goodbye with her aunt.

Hank covers for Alex and tells Kara it was he who delivered the final blow to Astra. Not wanting to lose the sister she just got back, Alex backs up this lie. I'm sure that won't come back to bite her in the butt or anything.

With Astra dead there is no telling the fury Non will be raining down, I just hope Kara can handle it. Though if she can handle seeing Cat at work tomorrow. I'm sure she'll do just fine.

Can't wait to see if the writers keep the writing up to par in the next episode!
