The closing ceremonies to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games were definitely a spectacle, but one standout moment involved one of the most famous icons to come out of Japan – Super Mario. With Tokyo set to host the Summer 2020 Olympics, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe made a grand entrance thanks to Mario and a familiar green pipe.

A brief video, which can be seen on YouTube, showed Mario entering a classic Warp Pipe in Tokyo – with a little help from Doraemon – before Abe appeared out of the pipe sporting the classic red cap.
