The Pokémon Company has announced that the original Pokémon movie will be returning to theaters for a limited engagement for the first time since its release in America 17 years ago. Pokémon: The First Movie will be shown at participating Cinemark theaters on Saturday, October 29 and Tuesday, November 1, 2016.

The cinematic debut of Pokémon focused Ash, Pikachu, Misty and Brock as they faced off against the legendary Pokémon, the exceedingly powerful Mewtwo. Pokemon: The First Movie released in Japan in 1998 and in North America on November 10, 1999. Despite being critically panned by film critics, it was a huge hit with fans of the series, and made $163.6 million at the box office.

The rerelease will also include the theatrical short film, Pikachu's Vacation, which was included in the original theatrical run but was conspicuously absent from the movie's Blu-Ray release.

Tickets for Pokémon: The First Movie are just $5, and presale tickets are now available. More information about purchasing tickets and about the rerelease can be found at the Pokémon website.
