Studio 8 has acquired the film option for the 1980s comic book series Scout, which was created, written and illustrated by Timothy Truman, according to a report by Deadline. Chris MacBride (The Conspiracy) will adapt the comic and direct the film project as well.

Scout focused on a Native American Apache, Emanuel Santana, in a violent future where the United States was punished for stealing the world’s resources. The series ran from September 1985 to October 1987 for 24 total issues; two four-issue miniseries, New America and Swords of Texas, were also created, but while Truman oversaw them he did not write or illustrate.

Truman will be serving as a consultant on the film’s development. MacBride recently sold his pitch for a thriller based on the Arcana series Amnesia to Sony, and is currently set to write and direct an espionage tale for MRC.
