The icon of Epcot at Walt Disney World got turned into an icon of Star Wars on December 5, 2016, in celebration of the upcoming film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Via some impressive projection technology, the folks at Disney turned Spaceship Earth into the Death Star, complete with a fully operational laser.

The event, hosted by the Disney Parks Blog, was streamed online, and featured a surprise appearance by Mads Mikkelsen (Galen Erso in the film). Some significant announcements were also made regarding the Star Wars presence at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away,” the stage show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will soon feature elements from the new film, namely the black-suited AWR Troopers. The fireworks show, “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular,” will also be returning on December 16 and will run alongside the holiday-themed “Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM” show through the end of the year; the Star Wars-themed dessert party will also be returning. Rogue One props will also be added into the Star Wars Launch Bay area.

On the ride front, the popular Star Tours: The Adventures Continue will be getting additional randomized track possibilities starting in mid-December. Most recently, scenes featuring BB-8 and Jakku from The Force Awakens were added.
