An exclusive by The Hollywood Reporter revealed Sony acquired the rights to the Image Comics miniseries, A.D.: After Death. The series, created by Scott Snyder and Jeff Lemire, is set in an alternate future where a genetic cure for death has completely warped society. Across the three-issue book, A.D.: After Death tackles the weighty issue of mortality through sequential art with prose in addition to painted art.

Snyder is best known for his five-plus years working on DC's Batman, while Lemire is known for his comic's Essex Country and Sweet Tooth. Both Snyder and Lemire will serve as executive producers, along with Josh Bratman (Fright Night) as producer and Eric Fineman (The Last Soldier) overseeing the project.

This A.D. deal is reuniting Lemire with Sony, following the company's 2015 pickup of his sci-fi comic, Defender.
