Fans of the Disney animated series DuckTales now span several generations, all of whom packed into room 6A at Comic-Con in San Diego for a panel discussing the upcoming series reboot. Attendees were treated to some new clips from the show as well as an exclusive work at some concept artwork that itself managed to sneak some cool announcements in.

The panel included most of the main voice cast: David Tennant (Scrooge McDuck), Danny Pudi (Huey), Ben Schwartz (Dewey), Beck Bennett (Launchpad McQuack), Kate Micucci (Webby Vanderquack), and Toks Olagundoye (Mrs. Beakley). Discussions included the legacy of the original 1980s cartoon and how the new show has been refocused to look more closely at the familial relationship between the triplets, Scrooge, and Donald. Fans also had the opportunity to ask the panel questions during a brief Q&A at the end of the panel.

Two clips were shown off - one from the pilot movie that looked at an adventure to the city of Atlantis (which turned into a terrible 16-hour-long road trip for all involved) and another from an episode later in the season that takes place in an ancient Egyptian tomb.

Most notable was the quick montage of concept art that was shown off, which included a look at Darkwing Duck. Darkwing had his own show back during the Disney Afternoon days, and DuckTales and Darkwing Duck shared a handful of characters between them. There has been speculation about Darkwing’s inclusion in the new DuckTales series, though the panel was the first time it was confirmed.

The new iteration of DuckTales arrives on Disney XD on August 12, 2017, with the film DuckTales: Woo-oo!. The series proper will then begin airing in September.
