The classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon The Jetsons will be heading to ABC as a live-action revival, according to a report by Variety. The show would be a multi-camera sitcom based on the original cartoon, focusing on the titular family in a future set 100 years from now. Currently the show has received a pilot order at the network.
Robert Zemekis will be executive producing and will be joined by Gary Janetti; Janetti, who has written for shows including Family Guy, will also be writing for the pilot. The show will be produced by Warner Bros. Television in association with Nickelby Inc. and Compari Entertainment.
The original series aired between 1962 and 1963 for 24 episodes as the futuristic counterpart to The Flintstones. The series was revived in the ’80s with 41 new episodes, and an animated film was released in 1990.
